BAKFlip Revolver Rolling Tonneau Cover

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

We designed the BAKFlip Revolver to bridge the gap between traditional roll-up covers and rigid folding systems. This rolling tonneau cover features aluminum slats connected by heavy-duty vinyl, giving you the weatherproof protection of a hard cover with the full-bed access of a soft roll.

The Revolver mounts flush inside your truck bed rails using our adjustable clamp system—no drilling required. When you need complete bed access, the entire cover rolls toward the cab and secures with integrated straps. The aluminum slats resist denting and warping while the matte black finish matches OEM bed rails on most trucks.

Aluminum Slat Construction & Materials

Each slat in the BAKFlip Revolver measures 1.5 inches wide and spans the full width of your truck bed. We extrude the aluminum to precise tolerances, then apply a powder-coat finish that resists scratches from cargo sliding across the surface.

The slats connect through heavy-duty vinyl that flexes during rolling without cracking in sub-zero temperatures. This vinyl membrane creates a continuous weather barrier—water pools on top and drains off the sides rather than seeping into seams. The same marine-grade material used in inflatable boat construction gives the cover decade-long UV resistance without fading or becoming brittle.

How the Roll-Up System Works

Unlike folding covers that require you to lift and prop panels, the Revolver rolls from tailgate to cab in one motion. Release the rear latches, grab the pull strap, and roll the entire assembly forward. The aluminum slats curve naturally around the internal roller bar without binding.

When fully rolled, the cover bundles into a 12-inch diameter canister behind the cab. Integrated straps loop through stake pockets to lock it in place—you can drive highway speeds with the cover rolled without any flutter or movement. Unrolling takes the same 15 seconds, and the slats settle flat without manual adjustment.

Installation & Rail Mounting System

We ship the Revolver with adjustable side rails that clamp directly to your bed’s stake pockets and top rail edge. The installation requires no drilling—four clamps per side tighten with a standard socket wrench. Rubber-coated clamp feet protect factory bed coating from scratches.

The rails sit inside your bed rails rather than on top, maintaining a flush appearance and preserving compatibility with over-rail accessories like bed extenders or bike racks. Total installation time runs 30-45 minutes for first-time installers. The cover lifts off the rails in seconds if you need to remove it completely for hauling tall cargo.

Perfect for weekly lumber runs
I haul 2x4s and plywood every weekend. The Revolver takes 10 seconds to roll up when I need the full bed, then rolls back just as fast. After six months the slats still look new—no dents from dropping boards on top. Way easier than lifting folding panels.

No drilling was the deciding factor
I lease my truck so drilling wasn’t an option. This clamps on tight and hasn’t budged through two snowstorms and highway trips to Colorado. The matte finish matches my bed rails perfectly. Installation took me 40 minutes working alone in my driveway.

Great cover, wish it had a lock
The cover itself is excellent—keeps rain out and rolls smoothly. My only complaint is it doesn’t lock independently from the tailgate. I added an aftermarket tailgate lock to solve that. Build quality is top-notch and the aluminum feels way more durable than the vinyl cover I replaced.

Handles Minnesota winters without cracking
We’ve had weeks of below-zero temps and the vinyl still flexes like new. I was worried it would stiffen up in the cold, but it rolls just as easily in January as it did in July. Snow slides right off the slats.

Low profile looks factory installed
I like that it sits flush with the bed rails instead of sticking up. From the side you barely notice it’s there. My last cover sat on top of the rails and looked bulky. This one maintains the truck’s clean lines.

Bike rack still fits with cover installed
My over-rail bike rack mounts right over the Revolver’s side rails without any issues. I can run both the cover and the rack at the same time, which my old folding cover didn’t allow. Super convenient for camping trips.

Good to know

BAKFlip Revolver Buyer Questions

Yes, you can roll the cover to any position and secure it with the integrated straps. Many owners roll it halfway to create a covered front section and open rear bed area. The straps loop through your bed’s stake pockets to lock the rolled portion in place at highway speeds.

We recommend fully rolling and strapping the cover rather than leaving it loose at partial positions. Wind can catch unsecured portions and cause flutter or damage to the slats.

The cover installs directly over most spray-in bedliners without modification. The clamp system adjusts to accommodate the extra thickness that spray-in liners add to your bed rails—typically 1/8 to 1/4 inch.

Drop-in plastic bedliners may require spacer shims if the liner’s raised edges interfere with rail placement. We include installation instructions that cover both liner types with specific spacing measurements.

The Revolver sits 1 inch above your bed rails when closed, so you lose 1 inch of vertical cargo space compared to driving with no cover. The rails themselves mount inside your existing bed rails rather than on top, so side-to-side bed width remains unchanged.

When rolled toward the cab, the bundled cover takes up approximately 12 inches of bed length behind the cab window.

The aluminum slats resist most impacts from hand tools, coolers, or bags dropped from standing height. We’ve drop-tested the cover with 25-pound weights from 4 feet without permanent damage.

Extremely heavy or sharp impacts can dent the slats—dropping an engine block or standing on a single slat will cause creasing. The powder-coat finish also scratches if you drag sharp metal across it, though this doesn’t affect function.

Once installed, the cover lifts off the side rails in about 30 seconds without tools. The rails stay clamped to your bed—you simply release the front and rear mounting tabs and lift the entire rolled assembly straight up.

Removing the rails themselves requires a socket wrench to loosen the clamp bolts. Plan 10-15 minutes to remove rails if you need a completely bare bed for hauling tall cargo like a refrigerator or ATV.

Closing the bed reduces aerodynamic drag, which typically improves highway fuel economy by 1-2 MPG depending on your truck model and driving speed. The Revolver’s low 1-inch profile creates less wind resistance than taller folding covers or camper shells.

Actual mileage gains vary based on driving habits, payload weight, and wind conditions. Most owners report the cover pays for itself in fuel savings within the first year of highway commuting.

We back the BAKFlip Revolver with a 2-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This includes the aluminum slats, vinyl membrane, side rails, and all mounting hardware.

The warranty does not cover damage from accidents, improper installation, or modifications. Normal wear items like weather seals are covered for the first year. Keep your purchase receipt and register the cover on our website within 30 days of installation to activate full warranty coverage.
